Alvin Is King was released by The Subway Organization in 1988.

The Groove Farm were very unhappy with the LP which production wise, sounded very flat.

It was more to do with the studio/engineers/producers, than the band themselves, however, the band had just split in half, and in retrospect should have waited until they'd re-built themselves..

"We still had no idea of how to work in a recording studio, and the man running the studio completely failed to understand what we were trying to achieve"

"It was a fight to get even close to anything we wanted, and after a while, of having to argue to all the time, it kills the fun. It becomes a chore. I think this is what happened. You stop trying, you just go 'yeah ok'...then you get home and hear it, and cry"

Some of the songs worked really well when played live, but the trebble fuzzy garage edge was far too smoothed over.

There are also in fairness a few songs that weren't great.
But also a few that were fab, if you can forgive the production.

And let it be on record forevermore, that 'I Can't Stand Another Sunny Day' was NOT about the pop group Another Sunny Day!

Reviews for the LP were mostly bad.

The Groove Farm started in 1986. A Garage band, mixed with C86 indie sounds. They ended in 1990 (evolving into Beatnik Filmstars) They have twice reformed for a show. There is also a new LP'Groovy Pharmacy' Available from raving-pop-blast.bandcamp.com.
